From Belgium with Love

It’s funny how you never know when or where your soulmate is located right now. Maybe it’s the person next to you on the bus, maybe you’ve watched the same movie once. Ana went on a trip to Belgium and voilà, she met Niki. The rest is, well, see for yourselves…

We met Ana & Niki on an early morning coffee just a few days after we returned from New York. Jet-lagged and tired, we were really concerned about the impression we are going to leave on them. We literally just woke up. Five minutes into the conversation these two were so radiant with happiness and enthusiasm that they gave us such a boost of energy even before the espressos arrived! It was time to start planning.

Since Niki was “out of town” we decided to show him around little bit during our prewedding session. Belgrade is a city located on the very confluence of two major rivers, Sava and Danube. There is no better way to check out a city like that than on a boat ride. One our good friends has a beautiful, hand made, Italian vintage boat which was the perfect size and comfort to take our couple out for a ride.

Where there’s a river, there is always a beach that follows. Lido is a part of the famous “War Island”, located just outside of old town Zemun. It’s a mile long stretch of sand with a big natural reserve all around the island. Host to many birds and wildlife species, it was our next stop for these two lovebirds.

Our final location was something out of the ordinary when it comes to shooting engagement photos. Belgrade is a true gem for the 60’s Brutalist architecture which you can’t really see anywhere else in such magnitude. New Belgrade is a host to many city blocks built in such manner and we managed to go out on a rooftop, 16 flights above ground, for some sunset magic. Who says that concrete can’t be romantic.

The wedding itself was a blast! They have chosen the most beautiful little ethno village called “Babina Reka”, near Belgrade which gave the wedding a whole new dimension. Dance and music went on until early hours. You can check out the rest of the photos in our full gallery located HERE. We saved the best for last, the video!
